BIG IDEA: Churches must carry on the work Jesus started
Last time, we took note of the spirit of comparison and competition that existed, not just between Peter and John, but amongst all the disciples. It’s just part of our nature to look around and measure our lives against others. In 1 Peter 2:1, Peter wrote, “Put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.”
Even after his public denial of Christ, Peter went on to have a long and fruitful ministry. If you’re someone who believes that super stubborn people can’t change, the Bible presents people like Peter as evidence to the contrary.
