BIG IDEA: God always shelters His people in times of tribulation!
Consider 3 worthwhile Christian activities:
Activity #1: Learning to enjoy God’s presence. Ask yourself, “Is it sensible to anticipate doing that forever, if I don’t do it now?”
Enjoying God’s presence stirs us to try Activity #2: Severing ties with sin. Last time, we learned how the Spirit seals (a.k.a. identifies/authenticates) us as the true and forever children of God, but one must also ponder: “How is my new status transforming my relationship with this world?”
Lingering in these first 2 activities readies us for Activity #3: Becoming more inclusive. As we gather around God’s family table later, ask yourself: “Is there anyone in this church that I struggle to see as a brother or a sister?” After stewing on that, ask: “Is there anyone in this melting-pot of a country that I can’t fathom becoming my brother or sister?” A better question might be, “What does a Christian look like to me?”
