Faith didn’t remove the emperor or improve 1st century conditions; rather, it helped people experience peace and joy in turbulent times. Take Mary and Joseph for example: How many of us would’ve understandably preferred to stay home to have our private moment with God over the hassle of traveling and dealing with people?
It makes me wonder, “Who have I left without hope by privatizing my praise of Jesus, who came to bring joy and peace to all the people--from poor and powerless shepherds to rich and powerful rulers? How is the advent of Jesus, His past and future appearances, changing your view of everything?
